Known as one of the most popular places to raise a family in Orange County, the Town of New Windsor is located along the Hudson River approximately 60 miles north of New York City.
The town is highly accessible. New Windsor is an hour away from all major airports and Stewart International Airport provides another option. New Windsor is strategically located so as to provide easy access to Interstate 84, the New York State Thruway, as well as New York State Highways 9W, 32, 94 and 300.
There is affordable housing in the form of single family houses, condominiums, and apartments. The Town has a solid tax base with superior services, several thousand commercial enterprises and outstanding youth and recreation programs.
The Town has a low crime rate with a community oriented and professional police department. Dedicated volunteers provide the foundation for top-rated fire departments.
The New Windsor Recreation Department offers various programs to residents to increase socialization and fitness. The department organizes self-help groups, crafts, trips, sports, and family entertainment. The town is filled with beautiful park land. Mt. Airy Park is located off of Route 94, featuring a playground for children and a variety of sports fields. Plum Point Park is located off of Route 9W, featuring great river views, along with a play area for children, a pavilion, and picnic areas. A pool for New Windsor residents is planned for 2005.
